Pat was born in Provo, UT to Jay and Martha Etta Laird Hinkins. She attended Provo High School. She met Dallen D. Workman in 1952 while at church where he was the assistant drama director and she was in the play he was directing. She lived a block from Dallen's brother's home, where Dallen happened to be staying. He frequently gave her rides home. While playing basketball for her ward, she told her friends that she was going to marry Dallen one day. That was the beginning of a ten-month courtship. They were married November 13, 1953. Their first daughter, Sherrie, was born in 1955, followed by the births of three additional children; Bradley, Laura, and Todd. They purchased their first home in June of 1960. In 1964 they became active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and were sealed for time and all eternity of that same year in the St. George Temple.
Patricia is remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, with a sense of humor and a playful demeanor. She was supportive of all her children’s and grandchildren's activities, and could be counted on to be their biggest fans. Celebrating the joys in her loved-ones lives was of the utmost importance to her. Her family always felt of her love while in her presence, as she showed a sincere desire to know about them and their lives; whether it be hardships, trials, triumphs or successes. If her family was happy, she was happy.
Many individuals remember or refer to Pat, as Sister Workman. She taught Sunday School for over 38 years to countless youth beginning her lesson with questions pertaining to them and how they were doing. For many years she assisted and trained the Scouts in her ward. Pat served in her Relief Society Presidency as well as a teacher. Young Women’s was always one of her loves in life. She knew just how to make any individual know and feel they could accomplish anything they set their mind to. Pat and Dallen were not only regulars at the Temple, but also workers. They absolutely loved working the front desk at the Temple greeting everyone who came in for well over a decade.
Pat is also remembered for her love of sports. She loved to play kickball, volleyball, softball, etc. She was always up for a game of cards as well. If it was fun, she was in. She also loved to win...no matter what! Pat had a wonderful sense of humor, and often would add quiet, witty little comments to a conversation. She loved to laugh and have fun.
Celebration and tradition remained extremely important to Patricia through the years. No matter how much the family grew, it was always a must to have a family Christmas Eve party to gather with everyone and share our gratitude for the past year, exchange gifts and enjoy each other's company. A tradition that, no doubt, added to the deep love and concern shared by the family.
Patricia is survived by her husband Dallen, children Sherrie, Bradley, Laura and Todd, fifteen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and her sister Darline Blackley. She was a bright spot in the lives of her family and her smiling face will be missed dearly.
