Phyllis N. Matheny, 91, of Las Vegas passed away June 15, 2012. She was born November 8, 1920 in Wellsville,Ohio and resided in Las Vegas for 49 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur E. Matheny in 1985 who was a Navy veteran of WWII and Korean wars. She enjoyed the military life, her favorite place being San Diego. An avid sports enthusiast and former high school cheerleader she faithfully followed the San Diego Padres and Atlanta Braves. Being a homemaker was her career. Her homemade bread, pies, chocolate chip cookies, and chocolate cake were prize winners. She is survived by one daughter, two granddaughters, one grandson, and two great-grandchildren. Burial will be with her husband at Riverside Veterans National Cemetery Riverside CA home of the Medal of Honor Memorial, Fallen Soldier Memorial, and Prisoner of War/MIA National Memorial. Private family graveside services will be held at Riverside.
