

Robert Crawford, age 75, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed, away on Sunday, January 24, 2021. He was born on July 1, 1945 at home in Jacksonville, Florida to his parents James and Ethel Crawford. Robert was raised in Jacksonville, Florida with his seven siblings. He had 4 brothers: Bruce, Jerry, Harold, and Eddie; and 3 sisters: Lucile, Mickey, and Jean. Robert graduated from high school and went on to obtain his Bachelors Degree in Criminal Science.
Robert enlisted in the Navy September 30, 1963. He served honorably for three tours in Vietnam, during thirteen years. For his hard work and dedication he obtained the rank of BT2 and was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. His results-oriented approach to things made him committed to the job, and he understood well his role in serving his country.
In 1979, Robert met his future bride while working as a security guard and she a dealer, at the Silver Bird Casino. On June 7th, 1982, Robert exchanged wedding vows with Gail Theresa Zappula at a Private civil wedding in Las Vegas, Nevada. Compassionate and devoted to Gail, Robert held endearing, traditional values about marriage and family life. Together they blended their lives and families. He was blessed to have his two sons from his first marriage, and expand his family with Gail to help raise her son and three daughters. As the family grew they were blessed with 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Robert loved his wife and would do anything for her. He always gave her 11 roses she was his 12 rose to complete him.
Robert worked very hard to support his family; they meant the world to him. He worked as a Mail Carrier for the United States Postal Service for many years. A true family man, Robert took care of everyone and was always there to catch anyone that may need his help. He loved taking his family on trips to Duck Creek and Ely, Nevada to camp and fish. He spent most of his time fixing all of the kids lines and never complained; it was the quality time that mattered most to him. Thanksgiving and Christmas were his favorite times of the year because it was a time where his family got to be together, and he was able to enjoy his wife's potato stew and her stuffing.
When Robert’s retirement finally arrived in Early 90's. He retired to spend time with is family that he loved so much. In retirement, he found new pleasure in spending time with his family,watching old John Wayne westerns, Andy Griffith Classics, his Miami Dolphins football team, and Nascar. Even in retirement, Robert continued to stay in touch with his old friends while making plenty of new acquaintances. He remained active and continued to enjoy the outdoors.
Robert was committed to living the life of a good man who was both practical and trustworthy. He was committed to the traditional values that he upheld his entire life. He committed himself to being a hard worker who expected the same effort in return from those around him. Most of all, Robert was committed to those he knew and loved.
Robert was preceded in death by father, James Crawford; mother, Ethel Commander; siblings: Luciel Wilson, Bruce Wilson, Mickey Nettles, Jerry Crawford, and Harold Crawford; and step-daughter, Denise Lacassin. He is survived by his wife, Gail Crawford; Children: Robert Crawford, David Crawford; stepchildren: Sidney Adams, Sylvia Sapia, and Lynn Carmona; brother, Eddie Wilson; sister, Geneva Moyle; grandchildren: Theresa Bach (Thomas Bach), Sean Carmona (Regan Carmona), Roberto Carmona (Briana Carmona), Raul Carmona, Chelsea Carmona, Tristin Carmona, Cody Harlan, Robert Crawford, Samantha Crawford, Hunter Crawford, Piper Crawford, Daniel Duhownik; and great grandchildren: Kyle Bach, Gia Bach, Hunter Harlan, Ethan Carmona, Aiden Carmona, Nathan Carmona, Kiera Carmona, Ezekial Carmona, Tommy Bach, and Joey Bach.
A visitation for Robert will be held Monday, February 22, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM. Funeral Services will begin at 11:30 AM, both at Palm Boulder Highway Mortuary, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015. Robert will be laid to rest with honors at 1:20 PM at the Southern Nevada Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veteran's Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005.
Due to COVID-19, government restrictions will be in place, and all guests in attendance must wear a mask.
