Romelia "Romie" Evans, 88, of Henderson, Nevada, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. Romie was born on February 12, 1937, one of nine children of Jesus and Jesus Bernal. She grew up in Los Angeles, California. She was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and sister. Romie was a dear friend to many in California and Las Vegas. She resided and was employed in the San Francisco Bay Area and Silicon Valley for most of her life.
Romie was ahead of her time as a career woman from the sixties until she retired in 2007. She held positions in the Federal Court System, Social Security Administration, and Naval Air Station Moffett Field. In 2009, she and her husband Bill moved to Las Vegas to enjoy their retirement years.
Romie was a passionate supporter of the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps for over 40 years, lovingly referring to the marching members as “her kids.” She donated generously of her time, talent, and treasure, serving on the booster club, board of directors, and event planning committees. She assisted members with tour expenses every year and cherished the friendships and adventures made throughout the drum corps summer seasons.
Romie leaves to cherish her memory her son, Michael Shaw of Las Vegas, Nevada; her daughters, Debbie Printz (Mark) of Blairsville, Georgia and Tabatha Dirickson of Roseville, California; her brother, Gilbert Bernal of Rowland Heights, California; her son-in-law, Rodney Cano of Newark, California; grandchildren: Nathalie Cano, Christopher Shaw, Sarah Printz, Samantha Shaw, and Jack Brown; great-grandchildren: Parker Shaw and Chase Shaw; and her dear friend, Denise Colletti.
Romie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, Bill Evans; daughters: Nancy Shaw and Rita Cano; and six brothers and two sisters.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff and administration of Sterling Ridge Assisted Living, as well as her hospice nurses for the excellent and compassionate care they provided during the four years she resided there. Your kindness, dedication, and loving support were a great comfort to her and to our family.
