

Roy Eugene Sneed, age 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday November 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at St. Rose Dominican Hospital, Siena Campus in Henderson, Nevada.
Roy was born on August 13, 1938, in Merced, California, the son of Roy Veaco Sneed and Maxine Elliot Hames Sneed. He grew up in Planada, California where he developed a strong work ethic and deep love for his family. After graduating from Le Grand High School, he started working for the National Park Service in Yosemite, California. He then served in the US Army, stationed in Germany. After serving he worked for the National Park Service to which he dedicated himself for 38 years working both in Yosemite, California and Lake Mead National Recreation Area.
Roy was a loving husband to Kathryn Brizendine Sneed for 57 years. He was a pillar of strength and support for his family. Together, they raised two children: Garnette Dawn Sneed McCracken and Austin Eugene Sneed. He was papa to 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was always there to offer guidance, love, and a teasing laugh. He cherished family gatherings, and his presence at holidays and celebrations bringing warmth and joy to those around him.
Roy had many passions in life, including his love of classic cars. He has a 1926 Ford Model T run-about pick-up and a 1964 Chevy step side. He actively participated in car shows and attended Hot August Nights in Reno, NV, winning many awards. He shared this love with his children and grandchildren. He was known for his joy and sense of humor and could light up any room. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He loved his savior, Jesus Christ.
Roy is survived by his loving wife, Kathy; his children: Garnette and Austin; daughter-in-law, Jennifer; grandchildren: Brandon, Aaron, Catriana, Calyssia, Trenton, Semaj’, Kai, Kele’ani and Au’kina; and great-grandchildren: Lucy, Sophia, A.J. and Kailea. He is also survived by his siblings: Bernice Barker, Judy Friesen and Jimmie Sneed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Maxine Sneed, and his older sister, Geraldine “Geri” Dixon.
Rest in peace, my sweetheart, dad and papa. Your memory will live on in our hearts forever.
A visitation for Roy will be held at Palm Henderson Mortuary, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015, on December 3, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Another visitation is scheduled at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 303 S Cholla St, Henderson, NV 89015, on December 4, 2025, from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. The funeral service will follow at the same location on December 4, 2025, from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm. A graveside committal with military honors will take place at Palm Henderson Cemetery at 1:30 pm.
