After 20 years of having this fantastic woman in my life, I have come to the conclusion that Grandma Sarah was the most selfless person I knew. She was always willing to help out whenever help was needed, to comfort anyone who needed it, and she always knew just what to say and how to say it in the most loving way possible. Whenever I was upset about something and needed to vent, she was always more than willing to talk about it. Whether it was about boyfriends, work, family drama, or the pair of jeans that didn't fit anymore, she always showed a genuine interest and are about what was going on in our lives. She was so easy to talk to and had a unique perspective on things. I knew that if I ever had doubts or was worries about the outcome of a situation, if I talked to her about it she'd show me how silly it was to worry and doubt. She was the nurse of the family, both in a physical sense and a metaphorical sense. If any of us were sick and our mom wasn't sure what to do, you knew that grandma would have an answer. The same way she always knew what to say whenever you would talk to her about your problems. No matter what the situation or major crisis, she always showed unconditional love, and there was never a doubt in my mind that she wanted nothing more than to see all of her grandchildren succeed and be happy in whatever they did. She was so many things to our family. From her green thumb, to her delicious secret recipes, to her warm smile. She was everything a grandmother should be and no one could ever make up for her presence in our lives. In my head I can still hear the way she would greet me over the phone in her excited little old lady voice saying, "Cookie!" and I can still remember the warm greeting whenever I would walk through the door, with the same verbal reaction and a warm embrace to follow. She didn't always sound like a sweet little old lady though. If you ever sat with her and watched a Steelers game, you would see how it brought out a whole other side of her enthusiastically cheering and waving her Terrible towel. She knew how to be a loving and disciplinary grandmother, but she also knew how to let loose and have fun. She made the world a sweeter, brighter, and warmer place. And even though she's not here in person, you can still feel her afterglow. God truly blessed us with the best grandmother, and an even better guardian angel.

To my extended family. I know we aren't related. But you never know. Any ways. I want to say I love all of you very much. Growing up next door to you was great. Sarah was loved by my whole family. She was dads secretary also for awhile. I think that broken arm thing was my brother Roy. She will be missed. 
Losing your mom is very hard. I know this from experience. You'll turn around and say " mom? " And then you realize she's not there. Just remember she is in a better place. And is watching over you. And you will be together again. Love Grace

There are no words that can express the loss of a loved one.  So always remember the good times you had with them and the joy they brought to your life.  You were one of the great ones Aunt Sis, and you will be missed greatly by this world.

To the family:
Sarah was a light to all those she touched.  What a wonderful person to all.  A nurse who was dedicated.  She always saw the best in others.  She was someone you could count on to lift your spirits.  She will truly be missed and remembered.

Sarah Jane Callihan was one of the most amazing people anyone will have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Her smile and laugh were truly wonderous to behold and memories of her are treasures far more valuable than any substance known to this world. I, fortunately, was blessed to have this woman as my Grandmother. I had her selfless, loving, forgiving and understanding example for most of my life and for that I will be forever grateful. Every life she touched was brightened, even if just for a short time. In return, everyone who touched her life made it much more full and meaningful. I definitely feel there were times that I took her for granted and will forever wish I had taken advantage of more of those moments and remembered every memory in more detail. I hope and strive to be more like her. 
She, finally, can rest and be at peace in body, mind and spirit. Till we meet again, Little Grandma.

To the grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchild of Grandma Sarah.  Let us express our condolences to each of you.  Your grandmother was so very proud of each of you.  When you all were little children, I remember all those Birthday party's at Pam's house.  She would sit around the kitchen table with each of you and be as excited as you all were when it was time to lite the candles. She always said make a wish. Grandma would wear the birthday hats with you. She enjoyed every moment she had with each of you and loved you very much.  Now that most of you are grown up and have families of your own, take those memories that you shared of her and pass them down to your children.  Make your parents proud that they are now grandparents and start building the everlasting memories.  Grandma's memories will always be with you.  Share them with each other and see how much it will help you through this difficult time.  Sorrow can be painful, but fill it with her love for each of you and be proud that you were the grandchildren of Grandma Sarah because you were the select few.

So sorry for your loss. Grief can be hard, but our special memories being neighbor's and all are very Special and won't be forgotten. We hold them in our heart and it helps as we cope. I will never say it is easy for it isn't. 

We just want you to know we will be remembering you and your family's and your loved one today and always.

Sarah was a kind,dedicated nurse who was totally devoted to her patients' care.She treated patients as if they were her own family.I don't remember her even taking a dinner break or a few minutes to have coffee as she gave every moment of her duty time to help someone.It is time to rest now, Sarah after a life well lived.With respect and love,Barbara.

Tom, Kathy, Kim & Pam  Loosing a loved one is one of the most difficult experiences that one will ever endure.  When the loss is your mother, the pain, sadness and hurt you feel is only temporary.  Fill her absence with the wonderful memories each of you made with her. She encouraged each of you to be faithful to The Heavenly Father and know that peace with Him is everlasting.  She was called by The Lord and is at eternal rest. 

Sarah was a wonderful neighbor in Windber and a friend. The neighborhood nurse to help us with our wounds and pains.  When she moved to Vegas,  I helped her get her first job.  She was well respected by all who knew her. We lost a wonderful person from our lives, but The Almighty God has inherited a jewel.  

Cherish what each of you had with her. Get your strength from what she taught you throughout the years. May Peace, Love and Comfort be with you.

I will not write of loss or sorrow, but of wonderful memories.  Having picnics at your house in Windber, and hiding in the huge lilac bushes in your backyard.  Watching you push a ball with your nose.  "Driving" your push-pedal cars.  I'll always remember getting together Sunday afternoons at the cabin for lunch, and all of the kids burning our behinds off at Grandma's because we had to sit on the radiator in the kitchen for birthday parties.  You were soft spoken but strong.  A lot like Dad.  I know he was happy to see you again, Aunt Sis.
