Susan Priscilla McIntyre

Susan was born in Boulder City on May 19, 1939 to Coen and Alma Stice. The oldest of four children, she was first married to Edward Colden, with whom she had three children: Casey Colden, Charles Colden and Curtis Colden. She was later remarried to Tommy McIntyre.

A proud member of the Boulder City High graduating class of 1957, she went on to earn her BA in English from the University of Redlands, California, where she also minored in Music. After moving to Michigan with her family, she studied Paralegal Law at Oakland University and quickly rose to Sr. Paralegal at the bankruptcy law firms of HJ & W and Pepper Hamilton. During this time, she received her MA in English Literature from Wayne State University.

In 2001 she returned to Boulder City and worked at the US Justice Trustees Department as Senior Paralegal. She retired from law in 2009 and in November of 2010 she fulfilled a lifelong dream of serving in the Peace Corps, teaching Literary Appreciation, Writing 1 and Speaking and Listening Comprehension at Mutah University in Karak, Jordan.

After returning to the United States, she focused her attention on her beloved Boulder City, writing for the Boulder Review and serving as an active member of the Boulder City Preservation Society. A crowning cap on her dedication to Boulder City was given to Susan just this past May when her home was honored by the City Council with the 2022 Historic Preservation Award.

She is survived by his three children, her grandchildren, Shawn Colden, Ashley Lloyd and Charlotte Gunn, and five great grandchildren.
