Alan Duncan Rice

ALAN DUNCAN RICE HICKORY – Alan Duncan Rice, 55, of Hickory passed away on November 3, 2014 at Catawba Regional Hospice. Born on August 4, 1959 in Harrisburg, PA he was the son of Carole Duncan Rice and the late Floyd Douglas Rice. Duncan enjoyed the outdoors, he loved to go hunting and fishing. He worked at Hickory Chair as and upholster and supervisor for over twenty five years. Duncan was a loving and devoted son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to all who knew him. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Rice; brother, Kenny Rice; sister, Donna Rice; sister-in-law, Ellen Rice. Survivors include his daughter, Letha Wells and husband Allen of Taylorsville; grandchildren, Aiden and Payton Wells of Taylorsville, mother, Carole Rice of Hickory; brothers, Darrell Rice and wife Karen of Columbia, SC, Dusty Rice and girlfriend, Terri Black of Hickory, Dennis Rice and wife Schell of Granite Falls, Wayne Rice and wife Kathy of Brownwood, TX; sister, Jean Mummert and husband Lee of Marysville, PA; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. A Memorial Service will be held on November 7, 2014 at 6 PM at First Advent Christian Church of Viewmont Hwy 127 with Rev. Dennis Spivey officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 4-6 PM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Catawba Regional Hospice, 3975 Robinson Rd, Newton, NC 28658.
