Albert and Sara were great neighbors and they reminded me so much of my own grandparents. I am happy they can be together again.

"Fair winds and following seas, may forever you feel, upon your cheek, the salty breeze. Your spirit lives on in many a heart, your words captured, and never to depart. May your loved ones have the comfort in knowing, to heaven is where you are going.

Albert - Al will be sorely missed by his library family. He was always so kind and supportive of the library and all of our staff. He and Sarah were long time library patrons.  July 1st would have been their wedding anniversary - I am sure they are together again taking care of each other.  Rest in peace Al!

To the Family of Al,
Never met Al in person, we emailed once in a while.  Wish I had as I was on the Benewah '67 and '68 with the 3rd of the 60th Inf.  Even though we never met I feel as though I lost a brother and a gentleman.  All of us of the MRFA can't thank him enough for all he did for our association.  I will be missing the recipes he would send to us, especially the ones to feed a 100 or so hungry troops.

Albert was one of the finest men I ever had the privilege to meet and even more importantly call friend. He was both a true gentleman and a tremendous patriot with a great sense of humor, a ready smile and a kind word for everyone he met.

AL was also very importantly the principle founder and heart of the only combined Army/Navy organization MRFA ( The Mobile Riverine Force Afloat ). His hard work and continuous efforts greatly supported and immeasurably benefitted hundreds of his military brothers.

As both the salt water and brown water sailor he was, I wish him Fair Winds and Following Seas.

Keep the hatch door ajar Al, as the rest of us, your shipmates, take our turn to follow in your wake.

You are missed and well remembered.

A truly  unique, caring, loving  person, always a sailor, has left us to sail on to Sara and so many he cared for.  Knowing Albert, Al-B, or Cookie was way beyond an honor.  His knowledge and sharing information, giving of his time and outreach touched so many more than he knew.   My life, and so many, will be less bright because he has marched on.  Deepest sympathy to all.

Though we never met in person, I became friends with Albert while searching for history of my late husband's service in Vietnam. I found the FB group that Albert administered and the rest was history.  We became close friends and his kindness towards my son was amazing.  Albert sent us a 9th Infantry cap, patch and many other significant insignias, etc. that connected us to our loved one's service.  Over the years we began sharing special family details, accomplishments in gardening, recipes, and significant losses.  He was my Sir Albert and I his Miss Lynda.  How he loved his dear Sara, and was still grieving her loss. He had just told me on June 30th that the next day would have been their 42st anniversary. I think Albert decided to go be with Sara, the love of his life.  RIP, dear friend.

Al was a good neighbor and a great friend . After Sara’s passing, we would sit together for an hour each morning and solve the world’s problems . We would complain that the frozen meals we would buy always looked better than they tasted . He would try to pawn some of them off on me ! He took me along on a few of his reunions even though I wasn’t a brown water sailor . I will never forget that he was treated like a god at the reunions . He was loved by all that knew him ! He will be missed, but he will be back with his wife who he loved dearly ! Heaven got a good man !!!

Al-B, I heard lastnight from mom of your passing. You were a great person, helping many Brown Water Veterans become part of a welcoming group so that they could heal from their mental "battle wounds". I know you and many other members helped my dad, Bob VanDruff, and my mom, Nancy VanDruff. They enjoyed being Products Chairpersons for the MRFA, which added to my dad's PTSD healing. I hope that my dad and Charlie Ardinger, as well as your love, Sara helped welcome you in Heaven and will help you find peace in the "beyond". I know that you were suffering from mesothelioma. Thank you for welcoming me as an "honorary" MRFA member and calling me Nursey Ratchet. I'm sorry that I didn't keep in better touch with you...now my chance is gone. May you rest in peace...

Sorry to hear passing of Albert. We were not only shipmates but friends. RIP brother Albert.

I never met Albert, but after my husband died, Albert started sending texts,, mostly related to his and my husband's time in the Navy.  Over the past year or so he started talking more about his life, his home and flowers, the BBQ grill and table he was getting ready for summer, and would send pictures of grandkids and great grandkids and talk about how much he loved his family. He was always cheerful and funny. I enjoyed his texts and will miss him. He made many of my days brighter. I just noticed that he was born on the very same day and year as my husband, Denny.  Rest in peace,  Albert. Say hi to Denny for me!

Albert is a man to be respected. His life was in service to others. The Moblie Riverine Force Association was blessed to have him as a loyal founder. The Association brought comfort to many of its Sailors and Soldiers. We will never forget you, dear Albert.

You will surely be missed Al B . I know your at peace now and your with your sweet Sara !!! I saw how much you missed her !!! God gained another sweet angel !! Will miss ya and love gator !!!
