

Allen was born September 27, 1938 in Catawba County to Mamie Beal Reese and the late Henry Lee Reese.
Allen was the owner and operator of Reese’s Wrecker Service for 38 years. He was a charter member and held office as the Vice President of the western region of the Towing and Recovery Professionals of North Carolina. In addition, he was a member of the Towing and Recovery Association of America.
He touched many lives through his profession and during his retirement years. He cherished the times he spent with his “breakfast buddies”, former employees, his lunchtime regulars, and most of all his family.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his sister, Judy Reese McMahan and father-in-law, Marvin Dale. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Connie Dale Reese, a son, Darel Allen Reese and wife Michelle of Granite Falls, two daughters, Aundrea Reese Hawn and husband Eric of Conover, Adele Reese Barrier and husband Neil of Hickory; three granddaughters, Arianna LeKole Hawn of Conover, Addie Leigh Barrier of Hickory, and Alexis Ann Reese of Granite Falls. A mother-in-law Virgie Dale, brother-in-law Levi “Butch” McMahan, sisters-in-law Martha Ann Craft, Linda Kincaid Belote and husband Jim, Judy Young and husband Bill and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, at Corinth Reformed Church in Hickory, with Dr. Bob Thompson officiating assisted by Pastor Chris Music. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Hickory Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, where Allen was a member, 80 28th Street NW Hickory, NC 28601 or to the Kelly Kincaid Scholarship Fund at Western Piedmont Community College 1001 Burkemont Avenue Morganton, NC 28655.
