Barbara was born June 2, 1925 in Caldwell Co. to the late Joseph E and Mary Benfield Herman. She was also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Viola Carpenter and Perry Lee Bailey; 5 brothers, Plez, Cliff, I. V., Jennings, and Warren G. Herman. She was a member of Viewmont Baptist Church and retired from Southwood Reproductions. Surviving are her daughters; Jeanie Bishop of Hickory, Valerie Martin of Deltona, FL and Merietta Martin of Conover; grandson, Keith Austin of Hickory and a number of nieces and nephews. Services will be Saturday, July 20, at 3:00 P. M. at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Homer Greene officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:45 – 2:45 P. M. at Hickory Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Assoc., Western Carolina Chapter, 3800 Shamrock Dr., Charlotte, N.
