Belinda H Davis

Belinda Hairston Davis, 61, of Hickory, passed away on October 7, 2015, at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton, NC. Born November 7, 1953, in Welch, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Elwood Zander Hairston and Lillie Mae Vineyard Hairston.

Belinda was a loving mother, daughter, sister and friend and loved traveling for mission work. She worked as a nurse at Catawba Valley Medical Center for 22 years and taught Nursing Education at CVCC from 2002 until 2015 before her retirement. “The world will not be the same without her.”

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Joyce Prewitt (1974) and Veronica Martin (2015).

Belinda is survived by her son, Andre Hairston of Hickory; sisters, Ruby Hairston of Westbury, NY, Patricia Easley and husband George of Wilcoe, WV, Dinah Freeman of Westbury, NY and Norma Abrams and husband Lincoln of Tuscaloosa, AL; brothers, Elwood Zander Hairston, Jr and wife Beverly of Hickory, Lorenzo Hairston and wife Marceletta of Hickory and Steven Hairston of Hickory; friend, Keith Davis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2015 in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Hickory with Rev. Tyrone Hairston officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. at Drum Funeral Home in Hickory prior to the service.
