

She was a lifelong member of the Salvation Army Church of Hickory. Betty faithfully served her church and community. She dedicated more than 30 years working for Beagle Brand Hosiery and later spent many years serving children at Catawba Ridge Child Development Center before retiring.
Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Lawrence Elmore, with whom she shared a lifetime devotion and love and are now reunited in God’s Kingdom for eternity. She was an extraordinary wife, mother, and “Nanny” remembered for her strength, kindness and unwavering faith. A breast cancer survivor, she embodied resilience and grace.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters Vickie Larkin (husband Jamie) of Conover, Rebecca Hunsucker (husband Kyle) of Conover, Robin Welch (husband Andrew) of Newton, grandchildren; Dustin Yelton, Jamie Larkin Jr. (wife Chelsea), Dillion Yelton (Aspen Brown), and Sydnee Welch (Zachary Wooten), great grandchildren; Haven Yelton, Kenzleigh Larkin, Dawson Yelton, and Kaelynn Larkin, sisters; Ruby Hyatt, Linda Buchanan and Martha Rowe, as well as many cherished loved ones.
Betty Elmore’s legacy will be one of love, faith and steadfast devotion to her family and community. Her gentle spirit and warm smile will be remembered always.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at The Salvation Army Church of Hickory. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 until 1:45 p.m. at the church. Major Ricky Perez will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
