Bobby was born Octover 28, 1938 in Taylorsville, NC. He graduated from Hickory High School in 1956 after which he served in the US Marines and the Army National Guard. He attended Western Piedmont Community College. He and Vivian were married in 1968 and together reared two daughters, Jessica Wilson Sanchez (Celedonio Rodriguez-Sanchez) and Carrie Beth Wilson. He is also survived by a precious grandson, Bobby M. Sanchez. He was often found sitting by little Bobby’s crib patting him gently on his back until he fell asleep. He affectionately referred to him as “my little boy.” In addition he is also survived by a sister, Miriam Petree; two nieces, Lori of Winston Salem and Leah Petree of Pawley’s Island, SC, and an aunt by marriage, Virginia Shepherd.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Flavil Wilson; a brother, Jimmy Wilson with whom he “solved the world’s problems.”
Bobby was an avid reader who enjoyed sharing with Jimmy and others. He also loved gospel music and through the efforts of Carrie Beth, met privately with Bill Gaither in Greensboro at a Gaither concert in October.
After retirement from Drexel Heritage Bobby worked for Griffith Security. He was a Mason and a member of Abernethy Memorial United Methodist Church where, along with the family, he attended the Christmas Eve services, a cherished memory.
