Born on August 2, 1923 in Hartwell, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Fretwell E. and Marie Bailey O’Barr of Hart County, Georgia.
She was retired from Goody’s Family Clothing and was a member of First Baptist Church of Newtonand also Ruth Sunday School Class.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Propst; brother, Edward O’Barr; and sister, Betty Smith.
Survivors include her two sons, John Robert Brown and wife Joy of Granite Falls, Joe Michael Propst and wife Lori of Newton; daughter, Julia Marie Hinkle of High Point; grandchildren, Tara Brown of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Stacey Field and husband Alex of High Point, Leslie Phillips of Winston Salem, Michael Propst of Hickory; great grandchild, Jaxon Phillips; sister Pat Houser of Newton; brother, Fretwell “Sunny” O’Barr of Anderson, SC.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 13, 2019 from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Hickory Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 14, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Newton. Pastor Tommy Hullette will be officiating the service. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
