Cletis Allen Lail

Cletis was born July 26th, 1927 in Catawba Co. to the late Edgar Jones and Carrie Cline Lail.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and a member of The American Legion and retired in 1989 from Hickory Daily Record after 47 years of service. He was an avid softball and tennis player. In 1947 he attended semi-pro Baseball tryout camp in Tampa FL.

He was a lifelong member of Christ Lutheran Church where he had served as Financial Secretary, Treasurer and on the Church Council .

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Jones Lail, who passed away in 2008, a sister, Virginia Lail Roseman, four brothers, Harold Jones Lail, Daniel Shuford Lail, Carrol Willard Lail and Donald Reid Lail.

Surviving are; a daughter, Janice Lail Buchanan and husband Calvin of Hickory, a son, Steve Allen Lail of Lexington, NC , a granddaughter, Kristie Lail Farrell and husband Sean of Charlotte and a grandson, Scott Lail of Charlotte.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 13, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Christ Lutheran Church with Reverend Richard Schwandt officiating.

Interment will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. Military Rites will be conducted by The American Legion Post #48

The family will receive friends on Monday from 12:45 until 1:45 at the church .
