With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Cloyd Hugh Propst Jr., affectionately known as Todd, on Saturday, August 3rd, 2024, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on January 22nd, 1950, Todd lived a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments. He enjoyed playing golf, spending quality time with his family, being on the lake, and visiting the beach. Todd rarely missed a day of golf, always ready for his Saturday 9:00 AM tee time – the greens might as well have reserved a spot in his name.
A native of Hickory, Todd was a proud graduate of Lenoir Rhyne University (Hickory, NC) and co-owner of Hickory Sand Company Inc. He was a devoted member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church and a lifetime supporter of the Masonic Lodge and Sipes Orchard Home.
Married for 54 years, he is survived by his loving wife, Pamela Sipe Propst, with whom he shared a beautiful love story that began in the seventh grade. Todd is also survived by his daughters, Ashley and Kimberly Propst (Corey), and grandchildren, Gabriel and Talyn Propst. His legacy of love extends to his sisters, Cathy Propst (Janet) and Leigh Ann Blodgett (Hazen), as well as his brother-in-law Rod Sipe (Tina) and sisters-in-law Pat Drum (Huitt) and Roxy Poovey (Ronnie). Additionally, he is survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cloyd Hugh and Mickie Propst, and his sister, Judy Stevens.
Todd's warmth and friendliness touched the lives of all who knew him. He never met a stranger and was adored and respected by all. His response to "I love you" was a resounding "Love you more.” His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Services to celebrate Todd's life will be held on Saturday, August 10th. A receiving will take place at Hickory Funeral Home from 1:00–3:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 4:00 PM at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Hickory, NC.
Those who wish to view him prior to the receiving may visit the Hickory Funeral Home (1031 11th Ave. Blvd. SE Hickory, NC).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (PO Box 22324, New York, NY 10087) or Sipe's Orchard Home (4431 County Home Road, Conover, NC 28613), honoring Todd's generous spirit and commitment to helping others.
Todd will be forever remembered for his kindness, love, and unwavering support. He leaves a legacy of cherished memories and will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
