Daniel C Curtis

Daniel C. Curtis, age 85, of Hickory, NC passed away March 21, 2015 at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton, NC. Born September 26, 1929 in Summit, NJ, he was the son of the late Daniel and Hilda Curtis.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Warren Curtis of Florida and sisters, Viola Curtis and Evelyn Kerekes, both of Hickory, NC.

Daniel was proud to serve in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He retired as supervisor from the Liability Insurance business in 1992.

Daniel is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Doreen S. Curtis; daughter, Doreen A. Schagelin and husband Ed; his grandchildren, Lauren Schagelin and Christopher Schagelin of New Jersey; daughter Debra S. Smith and husband Kenneth; step-granddaughter, Becky Schmidt and husband Karl; and his great-grandchild, Aiden Schmidt, all of New Jersey; sister, Hilda J. Curtis of Hickory; sister-in-law, Doris Curtis and her two children, Robert Curtis and wife Alison and Lynn Curtis, all of Florida; and his brother-in-law, Michael J. Gillingham of Ipswich, England.

No services are planned for this time.
