David Robert Melton

Hickory – David Robert Melton, 64 of Hickory went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. He was a member of Christ Alive Church in Newton.

Born on June 17, 1957 in Robeson County, NC, David was the son of the late Graham Eldridge and Pearlie Baldwin Melton. He was a devoted employee with Puryear Tank Lines and his hobby was golf, which he played with his brothers, cousins and friends.

David is survived by his wife, Karyl Taylor “KT” Melton; a step-son, Ben Kearns and wife Jessica; 2 step-daughters, Dena Biggerstaff and husband Chris, and Regina Belt and husband Scott; 3 grandchildren, Eliot Kearns, Lauren and Seth Belt; a brother-in-law Sam Taylor and fiance Regina Wallace and older brother Fred Melton and wife Barbara, and younger brother Mark Melton and wife Robin; 2 aunts, Hilda Auman and her late husband Donald, and Peggy Peele and husband Hubert; 1 uncle Jimmy Melton and wife Dot. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Catawba Funeral Home on Wednesday January 12, 2022 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Mark Ivey officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
