

Della “Pauline” Holtsclaw Teague, 69, of Hickory passed away August 8, 2021 at home under the care of her family and Carolina Caring Hospice Care. Pauline was born the only daughter of the late Roger Rufus and Lily Octavia Holtsclaw in 1951 in Dudley Shoals.
Pauline, married at the age of 15, was a devoted wife to her husband of 54-years, Wayne Richard Teague Sr. Their love endured a challenging beginning when 19-year-old Wayne was drafted into service shortly after their marriage.
Several years after Wayne’s return from service, Pauline and Wayne were blessed with two children, Chrystal Teague Dieter and Wayne Richard “Richie” Teague Jr.
One of Pauline’s proudest accomplishments was receiving her Adult General Education Diploma years into the marriage. She continued her education, and was working toward an Associate Degree in Accounting when her health prevented completion.
Pauline was a dedicated mother, wife and grandmother “Nana” to her family. She was integral in helping raise her only granddaughter, Courtney Maranda Deese, of Lenoir, forming a lifelong bond. Pauline also loved her two grandsons, Parker Nathaniel and Grant Alexander Teague, tremendously, even though her failing heath hindered her ability to spend as much time with them as she would have liked.
Pauline is survive by her husband, Wayne Richard Teague Sr; her daughter Chrystal Teague Dieter and husband Kevin James Dieter of Conover; her son Wayne Richard Teague Jr. and wife Cathrine Cooper Teague of Taylorsville and her three loved grandchildren: Courtney Maranda Deese, Parker Nathaniel Teague and Grant Alexander Teague. Also, she has numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws and has one surviving sibling, Roger Rufus Holtsclaw Jr.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers; Robert Holtsclaw, James Holtsclaw, Paul Holtsclaw, and Jerry Holtsclaw.
Pauline will be dearly missed by her family and all who love her.
A graveside service will be held at 10am Monday, August 16, 2021 at Catawba Memorial Park with Pastor Robert Holtsclaw officiating.
Catawba Funeral Home is assisting the family with all arrangements.
