

HICKORY— Dorothy Anita Spencer, of Trinity Village East, Hickory, NC was welcomed to her heavenly home on Friday, July 7, 2017. Dorothy was born October 20, 1920, in Catawba County to the late Roy F and Anna Killian Spencer. She was a beloved parochial kindergarten teacher for many years in Baltimore, MD, at St. Johns in Winston Salem, NC and at St. Peters in Conover, NC. When Dorothy’s mother became ill, Dorothy moved back to Hickory to take care of her mother and the family’s home place. She went to work for St. Peters in Conover, NC while taking care of her mother for many years. Dorothy had a servant’s heart and helped so many of her family and friends. She most enjoyed reading, studying and sharing Gods word. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Lois Specht, Virginia Sigmon, Edna Spencer and Lillian Robinson; a brother Doyle Spencer as well as her niece Janice Bolick and nephews David and Dewayne Sigmon and Paul Specht. She is survived by and will be missed by many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 16, 2017 from 2:00 pm to 2:45 pm at St. Stephens Lutheran Church Mo-Synod. Funeral service will be held Sunday, July 16, 2017 at 3:00 pm at St. Stephens Lutheran Church Mo-Synod with Pastor David Ziehr officiating. Burial will follow at St. Stephens Lutheran Church Mo-Synod Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to St. Stephens Lutheran Church Mo-Synod, 2304 Springs Road NE, Hickory, NC 28601.
