Draytona Deal (Penley) Hefner

Born in Lincoln County on February 25, 1937, she was the daughter of the late R. V. and Katherine Kale Penley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Edward Hefner, and brother, John Penley

She is survived by her daughters Kim Opal Hefner of Taylorsville, and Tonia Starnes of Taylorsville; granddaughters Erica Hamby and husband Sim of Taylorsville, and Katherine Abernethy of Taylorsville; great granddaughters Carlie Williams and husband Bryson of Hickory, Kalli Abernethy of Taylorsville, and Kinsley Abernethy of Taylorsville; grandson Jayden Hamby of Taylorsville; sister Ruth Kiziah of Newton; nieces Nichole Watson and husband Chris, Marla Kiziah, Judy Benfield and husband Richard, Dawn Pence and husband Scott, Linda Collier, nephews; Carl King and wife Cindy, Bob Williams and wife Marge, Clifton Kiziah and wife Lisa, and Jason Kiziah and wife Jessica.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at New Vision Baptist Fellowship, 4858 Grace Chapel Rd., Granite Falls, NC 28630. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:45 until 1:45 p.m. at the church. Rev. Lee Church and Sim Hamby will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Temple Hill Baptist Church. No graveside service will be held at the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Sim Hamby, Jayden Hamby, Clifton Kiziah, Jason Kiziah, Bryson Williams, and Chris Watson.
