A memory: Ed and I had started playing cards together with the senior citizen's group. My husband worked late and Ed and I went to eat at the pizza buffet on 127. We were enjoying the meal when a couple came over to say hi to Ed. He did not introduce me to them for quite a while. Then he had to and he just used first names. Told me they went to his church but didn't tell them I was from the senior center. They went back to their seats he excused himself and went over to their table for just a halfminute. He came back with that guilty grin he had and told me he had asked them not to mention me to anyone else at church because I was a married woman. I'm smiling as I share this. Ed will be sorely missed.

I met Ed and Ernestine through my sister who lived in Hickory. I was saddened when Ernestine went to heaven and I will miss Ed. I did not get to see them often but loved playing cards with their group at the church. Ed always got my pecans for me through his class at church. I will miss Ed and my thoughts and prayers are with his family.
