Emily White Whisnant, 63 of Hickory passed away, Monday, February 13, 2017 at her residence after a period of declining health. Born in Caldwell County on February 16, 1953, she was the daughter of Pearl Hollar White and the late Frank White. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband Bobby Whisnant of the home; a daughter Vakarma Rogers and husband, Jeff of Lexington, VA; a son Doron Cook of Vale; grandsons Logan Rogers and Austin Rogers both of Lexington, VA; a sister Anita Herold and husband, Norman of Lenoir, NC; brothers Harvey White and wife, Linda of Hickory and Eddie White and wife, Paula of Newton. The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 15, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hickory Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Corinth Baptist Church, with Reverend William Kanupp officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Emily will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.
