

EMMITT WILLIAM DOLLARHIDE NEWTON – Emmitt William Dollarhide, 83, of Newton went home to be with his wife and mother on June 18, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 28, 1930 in Wise County, VA, he was the son of the late Edward and Bessie Rose Dollarhide. Emmitt loved to go fishing and was an avid knife and fishing pole collector. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Emmitt was a people person and never met a stranger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Stella Dollarhide Whitworth, Rosy Dollarhide Setzer, Jessie Dollarhide, and David Lee Dollarhide. Survivors include his children, Gary “Gene” Eugene Dollarhide and wife Reba of Salsibury, David William Dollarhide Sr. and wife Connie of Newton, Donald Ray “Duck” Dollarhide and wife Deborah of Hickory, Elizabeth “Libby” Ann Blakely and husband Bill of Newton; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; sister, Geneva J. Mutter of Maiden; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 2 PM at Catawba Funerals & Cremations with Pastor Todd Byrd officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1-2 PM at the funeral home. Condolences may be left at www.catawbamemorialpark.com.
