FLOYD ODELL HERMAN Floyd O. Herman, 76, of Hickory went home to be with the Lord on July 26, 2015 after a brief illness. Born May 2, 1939 in Catawba County, to the late Edgar Lee and Emma Gilbert Herman. He was a veteran of the Army and retired from the Carpenter Company of Longview after 20 years. He was a loving husband and father. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Lee Herman; and a sister, Edna Herman Saine. He leaves behind to cherish his memory is his wife of 53 years, Rita Martin Herman; one son, Wayne Herman; brothers, Everette Herman, and Bobby Herman; sisters, Irene Fox, Ruby McGuire, Helen Powell and husband Rick, and Thelma Mauch; a number of nieces and nephews and his loving companion Chi Chi. A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at 2pm at Catawba Funeral Home with Pastor David Crump officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 from 6-8 pm at Catawba Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at www.catawbamemorialpark.com.
