Frances Self Reinhardt, 98, died peacefully on June 19, 2021 at The Landings, an assisted living facility in Mills River, NC where she resided for the last two years. Prior to that she was longtime resident of Hickory, NC before living in Erwin, TN for almost twenty years.
Born April 19, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Irene Bolch Self and Fred Rooker Self.
Her husband Jimmy Reinhardt predeceased her in 2005 after 59 years of marriage.
A devoted and lifelong member of Bethany Lutheran Church, she had the distinction of being the oldest living member of the congregation.
During her career, Frances was employed for many years at Century Furniture and JoAnn Fabrics as a secretary and bookkeeper.
She had many interests including reading, playing Skip Bo and Solitaire, and quilting and always had a great sense of humor. Her sweet tooth was legendary in the family. Chocolate chip cookies were her favorite! As her children were growing up, she loved summer evenings with good friends and all the children chasing lightning bugs and laughing. Having her family together continued to bring her much happiness over the years. She also loved many dogs and grand dogs over the years.
She is survived by her children, Ann Breitman, Susan Veillette and her husband Leonard, Rick Reinhardt and Ellen Reinhardt as well as five grandchildren, Aaron Breitman, Linden Lisska, Laura Foster, Kathryn Neuhart and Dasha Reinhardt and their families which include nine great grandchildren.
A Graveside service and interment will be conducted at Fairview Cemetery on July 16 at 2pm. Catawba Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A celebration of her life will be held on July 17 at 2pm in Mills River, NC.
