MAIDEN – Georfredo Alfonso, 98 of Maiden went home to be with the Lord on January 22, 2025 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Born on August 28, 1926 in Las Villas, Cuba to the late Carlos Alfonso and Clementina Cairo. He served in the Constitutional Army of the Cuban Republic. Georfredo married the love of his life Siomara Ramentol in 1959. They immigrated with their two sons on the Freedom Flights in 1970 to Miami, Florida. He was a hard worker who took care of his family and built his own business in Miami. Georfredo and Siomara retired to NC until the present time. He spent his whole life caring for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was well loved by all.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven siblings and grandson, Alex Martinez.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 65 years, Siomara Ramentol Alfonso; children, Geofredo Alfonso and wife Angela, Gerardo Alfonso and wife Sonia; grandchildren, Marlayna Alfonso Ozuna, Clements Alfonso, Caridad Alfonso, Antonio Alfonso, Victoria Alfonso, Autumn Hovis, Samantha Alfonso, Deshawn Benson, Kathryn Chisom;12 great-grandchildren; siblings, Julio Alfonso, Jesus Alfonso, Nelia Alfonso, Zobeida Alfonso, Omar Alfonso and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at 2 PM at Catawba Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 PM – 2 PM at the funeral home.
