He was born June 3, 1931 and was the son of the late Robert Sharman and Annie Fitchett Sharman. He was a member of Saint Aloysius Catholic Church and also The Knights of Columbus. George loved to play golf.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Graham and Michael Sharman; sisters, Thelma Wells and Joan Brooks.
Survivors include, his wife of 64 years, Carmen Sharman; son, Peter Sharman and wife Donna; daughters, Ann Sharman Purdee and husband Steven, Judy Sponseller and husband Barry; grandchildren, Michelle Purdee-Watt and husband Ben Watt, Jamie Sponseller and wife Heather, Jessica Tumbeiro, Christopher Sharman and wife Cait, Andrew Sponseller and wife Elizabeth; great grandchildren, Tyler and Kyra Purdee, Avriel Clark, Lilith and Lucien Purdee-Watt; four brothers, Bob Sharman and wife Elizabeth, Victor Sharman and wife Lyda, Herbert Sharman, Donald Sharman and wife Barbara.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Aloysius Catholic Church, Friday, February 1, 2019 at 1:30pm with Reverend James Collins officiating with burial to follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
A visitation will be held from 5pm to 7pm on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Catawba Funeral Home.
