Gladys Elizabeth Lanier

HICKORY—Gladys Elizabeth Lanier, 87, of Hickory passed away peacefully at Carolina Caring on April 10, 2019. Born in Catawba County, on March 31, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Henry and Ruth Pitts Lanier. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister Dorothy Miller and a brother Paul Lanier. She is survived by her sister Ruby Lanier of Hickory; sister-in-law Doris Lanier of Hickory; brother-in-law Guy Miller of Hickory; niece Teresa Killian and husband Rick of Hickory; nephews Jonathan Miller and wife Karissa of Bethlehem and Patrick Miller of Newton; great niece and nephews Amy Killian of Conover, Justin Killian and wife Tara of Hickory, and Logan Miller of Virginia Beach, Virginia; great-great nieces and nephew Jordan Killian of Raleigh, Emory Killian of Hickory, Ashton Killian of Hickory, and a special cousin Trudy Penley of Granite Falls. The family will receive friends Saturday, April 13, 2019 from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm at Hickory Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with Earnest Richards officiating. Burial will follow at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church ELCA cemetery.
