Grace Sherrill

GRACE HESTER SHERRILL CONOVER-Grace Elizabeth Hester Sherrill, 91, of Conover passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Catawba Regional Hospice. Born on June 15, 1923 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Lee Hester and Lela Hallman Hester. Grace was an office worker and later a homemaker, having worked for a number of local businesses including Jackson Buff in Conover and Dr. Joseph Young in Newton. She was a member of Abernethy Methodist Church in Newton where she had been active with United Methodist Women and a member of the Choir. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Sydney A. Sherrill; brothers, Glenn and J. D. Hester; and sister, Jeannine Hester Miller. She is survived by ten nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 11 AM at Abernethy Memorial United Methodist Church in Newton with Pastor Faye Herbin officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10-11 AM at the church.
