James Ray Shelton

Ray was born October 15, 1942 in Watauga County to the late James Richard and Nannie Munday Shelton.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Maybelle Shelton Buchanan.

Ray was a member of Central Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and former member of The Longview Lions Club and retired from Winn-Dixie in Hildebran after 46 years where he was Produce Manager.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years: Brenda Lee Teague Shelton of the home, two daughters, Barbara Lee Shelton Weaver and husband Brock of Valdese, Deborah Lee Shelton Moritz and husband Michael of Conover, two sons Steve Ray Shelton and wife Dawn , Bryan Ray Shelton and wife Monica both of Hildebran, five granddaughters; Ashley Shelton and Kayla Shelton both of Hildebran, Kaitlin Weaver of Valdese, Josie Rae Shelton of Hildebran, Erin Moritz of Conover, three grandsons; Matthew James Shelton of Hildebran, Alex Weaver of Valdese, Kyle Moritz of Conover, a sister Joyce Shelton Huffman and husband Jerry of Granite Falls and a mother-in-law; Willie Teague of Hildebran .

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday March 26th 2011, at Central Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Ernest Speagle officiating.

The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the funeral service.

Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Friday March 25th 2011 from 6:00 P.M.until 8:00 P. M. at Hickory Funeral Home.
