
James was born Dec. 13, 1931, in Yancey County to the late James T. and Ada Edwards Wilson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Jones, and a brother, Bruce Wilson.
He was of the Baptist faith, a U.S. Navy veteran and retired from G.E.
Surviving are his wife, Gail G. Wilson of the home; daughters, Linda West and husband, Eddie, of Lenoir and Mary Wooten and husband, J. D., of Taylorsville; son, Donald Wilson and wife, Gaye, of Lenoir; stepdaughter, Teresa Johnson and husband, Bobby, of Hiddenite; granddaughters, Heather West of Lenoir and Lindsay Wilson; grandson, Ashley Propst of Hickory and stepgrandson, Jonathan Elliott of Icard; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Madge Suddreth of Maiden, Alma Fox of Lenoir, Athlene Sexton of Baltimore, Md., Kathy Adkins of Molene, Ill., and Lena Farquahar of Pineville; brothers, Boyd Wilson of Hudson and Gerald Wilson of Middleburg, Fla.
Services will be Saturday, Dec. 11, at 3 p.m. at Winkler's Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dale Faulkenbury officiating.
The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the funeral service.
Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends today, Friday, Dec. 10, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Hickory Funeral Home.
At other times the family will be at the residence of Rita Pope.
