Janice was the heart of our home and family. She raised one daughter, Rani Holland of Hickory, NC in a happy and loving home. Her loyal and best friend, Loretta Evans, could always be counted on to get her into some kind of mischief or another. Janice is also survived by two siblings. She was married for 38 years to the love of her life, Glenn “Pete” Holland, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents Sadie and Grant Eckard, and a brother.
Janice was known for her compassion, kind heart, 14-day pickles, and love of QVC. Another love of hers was Bill Anderson, who she went to see at the Grand Ole Opry. Janice was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. The order is based on some teachings from the Bible and is open to people of all religious beliefs. She was also the Queen of the Foxxie Moxxies (Red Hat Society). This is a society that encourages women to get the most out of life. Janice definitely got the most out of life, and she will be dearly missed by those who knew her.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, November 12 beginning at 1:45 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at Hickory Funeral Home, with a service to follow at 3 p.m. in the Chapel. The service is being officiated by Reverand Paul Deal and Reverand Dean Hart.
