Jeffrey Scott Smith

JEFFREY SCOTT SMITH CLAREMONT – Jeffrey Scott Smith, 44, of Claremont went home to be with the Lord on November 3, 2014. Born on March 22, 1970 in Catawba County, he was the son of Frances Phillips and the late William Monroe Smith. Scott was a loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend to all who knew him. He was a kind, compassionate, and very giving person. Scott loved life and succeeded to make everyone laugh and smile. Scott was extremely close to his two brothers, Jackie and Chad. When they were together they could accomplish anything. Scott’s greatest joy was to watch the Miami Dolphins with his son Justin and playing poker with all his friends. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Jackie Smith. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Thomas Smith of Claremont; son, Justin Smith of Claremont; daughters, Heather and Lakin Smith of Gastonia; mother, Frances Phillips and husband Frank of Troutman; brother, Chad Smith of Claremont; step-mother, Dorothy Smith of Startown; sisters, LaShay Knight of Troutman, Regina Bailey of Hickory, Chastity Bailey of CA; step-brother, Danny Brotherton of Troutman; nephews, Joshua Crawford of Conover, Matthew Smith of Claremont; numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 1 PM at Catawba Funerals & Cremations with Pastor Tony Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Memorial Cemetery in Catawba. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
