Jerry was born in York County, SC he was late son of Robert Charles Jackson and Gladis Matheney Jackson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Rita Surratt.
Jerry retired from the textile industry in the early 90's and he continued working on his passion of building houses after receiving his contractors and real estate licenses. Prior to textile career, Jerry served in Korea as a member of the US Air Force. He had a passion for physical activity running his first of several marathons after turning 50.
He is survived by his sons Jay Jackson and wife Amy; Joel Jackson and wife Jennifer, grandsons Zane Jackson, Ethan Jackson, Dylan Jackson and granddaughter Avery Jackson. Sisters Pat Campbell, Peggie Hunter and husband Leo, many nieces and nephews.
A private celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project.
