John Franklin Eagle Jr.

HICKORY— John Franklin Eagle Jr., 48, passed away unexpectedly February 4, 2017 at his residence. Johnny was born May 18, 1968 in Iredell County to Rita Lackey Jolly and the late John Franklin Eagle Sr. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Alton and Elleane Lackey and his paternal grandparents Robert and Pearl Eagle. Johnny was a 1986 graduate of St. Stephens High School and worked at his family owned restaurant Sonny’s Grill. He was a gentle giant who had a heart of gold, his witty character, charm and fun loving antics will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his mother Rita Jolly and step father Wade of Hickory; sister Holly Jolly Whitener and husband Brian of Taylorsville; nephews Riley and Coley Whitener of Taylorsville; uncles, Sonny Alton Lackey Sr. and wife Kathy and Kevin Lackey both of Hickory and his companion of 29 years Betty Bolton of the home. A Memorial service will be held Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at 4:30 pm at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ernie Richards officiating.
