John Henry Smith

JOHN HENRY SMITH MAIDEN – John Henry Smith, 80 of Maiden went home to be with Jesus on March 29, 2017. Born on March 1, 1937 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Silas Monroe and Ola Josey Smith. Johnny was a loving and devoted husband, father, and Paw Paw. He loved to fish and tinker with motorcycles and lawnmowers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. Survivors include his loving wife of over fifty-five years, Ada Smith of the home, children, Elizabeth Rikard of Maiden, Don “Bo” Smith of Maiden; grandchildren, Michele McCurdy and husband Larry of Catawba, William “BJ” Smith of Maiden; great-granddaughter, Aurora Milstead of Catawba; sister, Mattie Morgan of Maiden; and his beloved Snowflake. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at 2 PM at Catawba Funerals & Cremations with Pastor Tommy Young officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12-2 PM at the funeral home. Memorial may be made to Catawba Regional Hospice, 3975 Robinson Rd, Newton, NC 28658. Pallbearers for the service will be Jason Sherrill, Robbie McCaslin, BJ Smith, Daryl Eagle, Matthew Eagle, Dexter McCaslin, Honorary Pallbearers will be Kerry McCaslin, Bobby “Spanky” Sherrill.
