Judy Carolyn Burris Nye

HICKORY—Judy Carolyn Burris Nye, age 71, of Catawba County passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2014 after a period of declining heath. Judy was born February 23, 1943 to Naomi H. Poole and James M. Burris. Judy enjoyed going to church, singing, writing and spending Sunday afternoons with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, John W. Nye, a brother, Glenn A. Burris, and a sister Barbara Burris Moser. She leaves behind five children; Jimmy Craig and wife, Sheila of Asheville, Mitzi Ballard of Newton, Annette Shook and husband, Mike of Hickory, Keith Nye and wife, Kim of Hickory, and Lanny Nye of Claremont. Four siblings: Sherry Christy of Sherrills Ford, Diane Clark of Colonial Heights, Va, Brenda Smith of Newton, and Leonard Burris of Newton. Sixteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and numerous extended family. The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 2, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel in Hickory. The Reverend Robert Gober will officiate. Burial will follow in the St. Stephens Lutheran Church, Mo Synod cemetery. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to funeral service.
