Kaye Klingensmith Coffey, 59, of Conover, NC, passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at Catawba Regional Hospice after a tough battle with breast cancer. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones.
Kaye was a long time resident of Conover, NC, where she lived with her husband of almost 36 years, Richard L Coffey, originally from Granite Falls. She was a wonderful mother to two children, Josh Coffey, with wife Jodie, of Myrtle Beach, SC; and Mindy Coffey Johnson, with husband Chris, of Hickory. She was very active and involved in the lives of her grandchildren, Benton and Jonas Johnson. Kaye was also lucky enough to have a special friend, Nikki Cromer of Conover, with whom she was best friends for 24 years. Very few Fridays went by that they did not have lunch and talk for hours.
Born August 19, 1955 in Grove City, PA, she was the daughter of Donald and Shirley Klingensmith, of Conover. In addition to her parents, other survivors include sister, Jene Klingensmith of Lincolnton; and brothers, Michael Klingensmith of Raleigh, and Robert Klingensmith, with wife Lori and son Mick, of Hickory.
Kaye was very creative, artistic, and unique; and her passion for detail, precision, and perfection showed in everything she did. She took pride in her work, and it showed in all of her talents. Her style and free spirit will be missed by many.
A gathering of friends and sharing of memories will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Drum Funeral Home in Hickory.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Catawba Regional Hospice, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658.
