Laura Thomas Holt Boyd

She was born on March 26th, 1930, to the late Charlie Harrison Thomas and Lula Victoria Boggs Thomas in Lee County, North Carolina.

She was the last out of 11 children in her family. She owned Sedge Garden Cross Stitch Shop in Winston-Salem before moving to Conover in 2002. She was a member of First Christian Church of Winston Salem.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved first husband William James Holt, and beloved second husband Charles Houston Boyd, great grandson, Mason Abernethy, and her 10 siblings.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters Deborah Holt Smith (Eddie) of Newton, Victoria Holt Handsel (Mack) of Stanley, NC. Grandchildren; Jeffrey Allen Smith (Melissa), Scott Anthony Smith (Paige), and Angela Handsel Abernethy (Derek). Great-Grandchildren; Dylan Jordan Smith (Lacey), Tyler Charles Smith, Laura Mckenzie Smith, Aaren Daniel Smith, Ansley Cheryl Marie Smith and Sydnie Faye Abernethy. A Great-Great Grandson Kasen Jordan Smith. A step Great-Granddaughter Masi Sanders (Jason). A step Great-Great- Grandson Easton James Sanders. A sister-in-law Carol Long Beck (Ronnie). Special Nephew; Marty Beck. She had numerous nieces and nephews.

Services are to be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at 3:00pm at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Winston- Salem.

The family would like to thank all the staff of Carolina Caring. Especially Crystin Connor and Sandra Daniels.
