Lewis "Tom" Thomas McElwayne

HICKORY – Tom McElwayne, 80 of Hickory went home to be with the Lord on February 12, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Tom was born on January 19, 1942 in Gassaway, WV to the late Henry and Maggie Starcher McElwayne. He was retired from Ford Motor Company in Lorain, OH. He enjoyed playing both lead and bass guitars, and singing country music for over 60 years. He had a love for all animals especially his dog Buddy. Tom was a very devoted father and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Edmund McElwayne and sister, Francis Farley.

Survivors include his children, Mollie Dula, Amy Fincher and husband Sean, and Jason McElwayne and Crystal; step-daughter, Penny Jabbusch; grandchildren, Hannah Reid and husband Chris, Monica Lutz and husband Michael, Nathan McElwayne, Stephen Epley and Chelsey; 7 great-grandchildren, loving companion, Scarlet Bruehler; and sister, Edna Martin.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, February 14, 2022 at 1 PM at Catawba Funeral Home with Chaplain Bruce Dayton officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
