

Lua Helen Curry Turner, 84, of Hickory, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Abernethy Laurels in Newton. Born November 7, 1936 in Abilene, TX, she was the daughter of the late Brandon Curry and Helen James Curry.
Lua was a school teacher, loved her family and grandchildren and loved to paint and do crafts.
She was a devoted minister’s wife for her husband, a Baptist minister for 53 years, as he served in the following North Carolina churches, Bladen Union Baptist Church, Lumber Bridge Baptist Church, Fremont Missionary Baptist Church, Brown Baptist Church, Clinton, and Garner’s Chapel Baptist Church, Mt. Olive. She was a choir director, Sunday school teacher and everyone said she sang like an angel.
In addition to her parents, Lua was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, John Franklin Turner; and brother, Kenneth Curry.
Lua is survived by her sons, John Franklin Turner, Jr. and wife Alison of Concord and Timothy Paul Turner and wife Angie of Hickory; grandchildren, Hope Elizabeth Turner, Caswell Lynn Turner, Autumn Faith Turner, Caroline Rebecca Turner and Brandon Perry Turner.
