He was born on February 14, 1948 to the late Robert M. Lail, Sr. and Nell Bowman Lail in Catawba County. Mack loved his family dearly. His favorite way to spend his time, when he wasn’t with his family, was to be hunting or fishing. Mack lived his life to the fullest.
Along with his parents, his sisters, Bernice L. Fox and Judy A. Lail preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Lail of the home; daughter Sherry Baxley and husband Randall of Conover; grandchildren, Nolan M. Smith and wife, Bayley of Winston-Salem, James R. Simmons of Boston, Christopher R. Baxley of Denver, Jarod Baxley and wife McKayla of Denver, Harley T. Smith of Charlotte; great grandchildren, Alyssa and Desiree Smith; brothers, Robert M. Lail Jr. and wife Pat of Conover, Belmar W. Lail and wife Donna of Claremont; sister, Betty Jean Lyalls of Hickory; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2023 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Hickory Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023 at 3:00 pm at Sandy Ridge Wesleyan Church. Pastor Scott Howard will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude’s Children’s Research, or Sandy Ridge Wesleyan Church.
