

Born in Caldwell County, Dec. 21, 1929 she was a longtime member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church Mo-Synod in Hickory, where she was a Sunday School teacher.
Marilyn was employed in private duty nursing and worked for Dr. Stewart, Dr. Abernathy and a dental hygienist. Also, Hickory Glove and Servomation Corporation. Marilyn was a very loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a friend to many.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her father, Alonzo Newton Beach; mother, Ozell Henry Beach of Hickory; brothers, Jack, Jerry, and Lane Beach, all of Hickory; sisters, Edith Beach Fox and Barbara Beach Lewis of Hickory; and a very special best friend, Lula Sipe of Conover, who was a godmother to daughters, Robin and Angela.
Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Doris Beach Houston of Conover; one brother, Danny (Linda) Beach of Taylorsville; three daughters, Joletta (J.D.) Rockett Wooten of Columbia, S.C., Robin (David) Waring Hufton of Clayton, and Angela Waring Crawford of Beech Mountain; eight grandchildren, Jason (Amy) Wooten, Jered (Kelly) Wooten, Ashton Hubbard Jones, Allie Crawford and Allysa (Nathan) Crawford Linkous, Dawson Hufton and Iain Hufton; seven great-grandchildren; and several special nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Hickory Funeral Home, Wednesday, July 13. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 pm, and a memorial service to celebrate the life of Marilyn will begin at 2 pm. The Rev. Ken Reed will be officiating the service. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. A covered dish celebration of life will follow at Marilyn’s former residence in Conover.
