HICKORY – Mary Lou Wike Huffman, 88 of Hickory passed away on September 18, 2024 surrounded by her family.
Born on February 29, 1936 in Catawba County, to the late Fred S. and Minnie Herman Wike. Mary Lou was a member of Unity Lutheran Church in Hickory. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all who knew her. Mary Lou retired after many years from Hickory Auto Parts. She was an avid card player, an occasional jokester who loved working puzzles. Lou found much joy spending time with her friends and neighbors of Sweetwater Village.
In additional to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Huffman, sister, Clara W. Shook, and niece, Amy S. Herman.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Janet H. Markham and husband Tim, grandson, Brandon Greene and wife Leah; great-grandsons, Ty and Glen Greene; sister, Shirley W. Shook and husband Harold; niece, Joni S. Moretz and husband Kevin; nephews, Brad Shook and wife Angie, Eric Shook, Richard Shook and wife Debbie; a number of great nieces and nephews and other family members.
Due to inclement weather the funeral service will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024 at 11 AM at the Catawba Funeral Home chapel with Deacon Deb Johnson officiating. Interment will follow.
