She was born on March 24, 1927 to the late Robert Burl Wilson and Loney Putman Wilson in Catawba County. Mary was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Charles Jonas Keener; grandsons, Randy Whisenant and Johnny Davis.
Survivors include her daughter, Vickey Davis and husband Ralph of Hickory; son, David Keener of Hickory; granddaughter, Teresa Sigmon and husband Brian of Bethlehem; special niece, Judy Setzer and husband Jerry and her family; Jeremy Setzer and wife Kim of SC; and special caregiver, Makayla Doub.
A funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Hickory Funeral Home. The family received friends prior to the service from 12:00 until 12:45 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Paul Deal will officiate the service. There will be a private burial at a later date.
