Mary Herman Weaver

Mary was born August 5, 1915 in Catawba Co. to the late Sydney Thurman and Rancie H. Herman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bert Weaver and a sister, Edith Bowman.She was a lifelong member of Miller’s Lutheran Church where she was very active with the Women’s groups and held many roles of leadership; charter member of Catawba Valley Cosmetology Association; and was owner & operator of Mary’s Beauty Shop for over seventy years. She enjoyed oil painting in her later years. Surviving are her daughter, Janice Weaver Jones and husband, Blake, of Bethlehem; son, Rev. C. Nelson Weaver of Hickory; sisters, Beulah Sipe of Bethlehem, Pearl Poovey of Hickory and Joan Barnes of Bethlehem; brother, Luther R. Herman of Hickory. Services will be Saturday, November 9, 2013, at 2:00 P. M. at Miller’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Steve Rhodes officiating. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday, November 8, 2013, from 6:00 – 8:00 P. M. at Hickory Funeral Home.
