She retired from the Inspection Department at Lane Company and was also a member of Millersville Baptist Church. Grandma Mazie, as she was most lovingly known, loved to cook and feed her family. Her family knows that with her passing, their stomachs and hearts will never be quite as full.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Berlie Starnes, her father, Roy Randall, her mother, Madge Davis Randall, and her sister, Mable Randall Pollard.
Grandma Mazie is survived by her son, Richard Wayne Starnes and wife Jan of Taylorsville; grandsons, Scott Starnes and wife Diane of Conover and Benji Starnes and wife Clarissa of Hickory; great grandchildren, Alana Starnes Hall and husband Tanner of Oakwood, GA, Ethan Starnes of Hickory, Kayle Starnes of Knoxville, TN, and Miles Starnes of Hickory; brothers, Glenard Randall and Donald Randall and wife Joyce, and her nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 27, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Hickory Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:15 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Springs Road Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Bill Orren and Rev. Brian Kerley will officiate the service.
The family would like to express their extreme gratitude to Jane, Rebecca, and Cindy for tending to Mazie with love and extending the very type of caregiving she herself did so well.
