Melvin Graham

Hickory – Melvin “Mel” Conard Graham, 84, of Hickory went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 19, 2023.

Born on January 1, 1939 in Cabell County, WV, Mel was the son of the late Curry Curtis and Carrie Alice Moore Graham. Mel was a retired investigator for the Federal Government-Wage and Hour. Upon his retirement he went back to college to earn his Master’s Degree in Counseling, as it was his passion to help children succeed in life. He also coached youth basketball for the YMCA of Huntington for 20+ years and was the assistant coach for several school programs. He was very active in the community and enjoyed being outside at Ritter Park walking and talking with his friends and strangers.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Stephen Graham and his former wife, Jackie Graham.

Those left to cherish his memory include, Jennifer Lingerfelt and husband, Chad; a grandson, Scott Lingerfelt; a granddaughter, Laila Lingerfelt and special family friend, Kay Peeler and family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Huntington, West Virginia in Mel’s name.
